Fixed scope, fixed price
Vague retainers and open-ended billing aren't fair to small businesses. Every project starts with a clear scope document and a price you can plan around.
About the studio
01 — The problem
Enterprise-grade tools exist, but they're priced and designed for organisations with procurement teams and six-figure IT budgets. Off-the-shelf alternatives are either too generic to fit your workflow or too locked-in to leave. Most small businesses end up stitching together five mediocre tools and a spreadsheet.
The gap isn't capability — it's access. The engineering practices, the architecture, the quality bar that the best software companies use are not secret. They just haven't been pointed at small business.
02 — Why we exist
BitMages was started to close that gap by a team that sits on both sides of it: software engineers building alongside chartered accountants and auditors. We build custom apps, ops automation, and AI systems for small businesses — the same quality bar the big companies have, without the agency bloat, the vague retainers, or the price tags that assume a VC is paying.
We work with operators: founders, owners, and the people inside small businesses who keep things running. The software we build fits their workflow — not the other way around.
03 — How we work
Every engagement starts with a discovery sprint — we map your workflow, identify the highest-leverage problems, and produce a fixed-scope document before any code is written. You know exactly what you're getting, what it costs, and when it ships.
After launch we hand over documentation and full access to your data — export it anytime, or run the system on your own infrastructure. We're available for ongoing support if you want it, but your data is never locked in.
What we believe
Vague retainers and open-ended billing aren't fair to small businesses. Every project starts with a clear scope document and a price you can plan around.
Engineers build the software; the chartered accountants and auditors on our team shape and review it. The books, controls, and compliance hold up to scrutiny — at a price small businesses can actually plan around.
Generic tools make you adapt your business to the software. We do the opposite — the software adapts to how your business actually works.
We scope tightly and ship early. You get a working system fast, then we iterate — rather than spending months in planning before you see anything.
